“My English is not good. Spoken English is very difficult. But I want to study at Columbia so I am trying to improve. I decided to come to America because of Forrest Gump. I’ve watched the movie five times. I like Forrest very much. Forrest is very simple. He picks one thing, and he keeps going. When I was young, I thought Forrest was stupid. But now I have a different view. I think people are too complicated. They complain about everything. Forrest never complains. Forrest chooses one thing and he keeps going. I watched the movie last month to encourage me. My life is hard because people don’t ever know what I’m saying. But I just think of Forrest. Forrest figured everything out because he just kept going.”

Science confirms: Plus-size representation helps improve women’s psychological health
- According to a new study from researchers at Florida State University, women don’t just find ads depicting plus-size models more memorable — their mental health could actually be improved.
- The study, published in the journal Communication Monographs, surveyed 49 college-aged women who had all voiced they would like to be thinner and recorded their reactions when viewing images of straight-size models, average-size models and plus-size models.
- The results showed that women reported the greatest satisfaction with their bodies when seeing the plus-size models. When viewing thinner models, body satisfaction decreased. Read more (6/9/17)

Another NJ state trooper charged after pulling over women to ask them out
- A New Jersey state trooper has been criminally charged after a police investigation uncovered his sleazy work habit.
- As NJ.com reported, the officer is believed to have pulled over women drivers, just to badger them for dates.
- State police say Eric Richardson, 31, stopped and “harassed” two separate women “about initiating a personal relationship,” according to a news release from the Office of the Attorney General.
- Richard apparently sustained his harassment through multiple traffic stops, telling one of the women he would arrest her if she didn’t give him her number.
- To cover up his advances, Richardson would reportedly turn off his dashboard camera and lie to dispatchers, saying he had pulled over men.
- Richardson is suspended from duty, and faces charges of third-degree tampering with public records and fourth-degree falsifying or tampering with records, which carry respective fines of up to $15,000 and up to $10,000 and could land him in prison for up to five years. Read more (6/1/17)
